I have a sump pump plugged into a single 120v outlet in my basement. Do they make a battery backup that can be plugged into outlet then you plug the sump pump into that. Trying to keep a power source during power outages. Id like to keep pump system I have without switching to a battery back up sump pump system. Thanks.

A battery sump system is basically a sump connected to a ups Http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OFX… that is sized to handle the startup inrush of the sump. You probably want to look at the amps, multiply by 120 to get watts, and double that for inrush. That would give you minimum, anything larger would help by allowing longer run time during outage.
My battery back-up sump pump isn't getting the job done. Any back-up suggestions for when I lose power?
I purchased a 2000 gpm back-up pump system from Home Depot about 2 years ago. It is working, however doesn't do the job. Twice it has failed to take over for the primary pump when the power went out. The system came with a Deep Cycle Marine Battery, but I've already had to replace it once because it wasn't holding a charge. I'm wondering if the 6 hour battery rating is just not enough battery power. We often leave on the weekend, and twice we lost power during the weekend, only to find the basement flooded. I think that the pump works, but at 2000 gpm, when we have a storm that knocks out the power, the heavy rain associated is too much for the pump to handle. I think it must run continuous and runs down the battery. Is there a more powerful battery I could get, or another back-up option? (aside from a back-up generator) I am on a well, so can't use the system that works with city water pressure. Any help…thoughts?

If you lose power inside your house for an extended period of time (longer than what your 6 hour battery is rated for) your pump will stop running. In other words, once your battery powered pump kicks on, if the power to your house is out for more than 6 hours, your pump will stop running when the battery runs out of power.
Battery backup on existing sump pump?
Im looking for just a battery backup for my current sump pump system in my basement. The current system works fine i would just like to be prepared in case of a power outage. I dont want to rig/convert anything either-i want an actual battery backup. Any suggestions??

You need to realize that the 120 volts is an AC circuit and the batteries are a DC source. An inverter system will take the DC voltage and make an AC simulation to run the pump. You need to determine how long a time frame the system needs to work without AC power and then you can decide the batteries needed to do it. As a second choice you might consider some 12 volt bilge pumps if you can find ones that will handle the amount of water you will have. The 12 volt bilge pumps would be the simplest to install and to power. An inverter system is a big design and financial project. Good luck to you.
